How do calluses on a dog's elbows form and how dangerous are they?

Calluses on a dog's elbows are also called calluses. This greyish, round and rough growth on the dog's leg is caused by long-term lying on hard surfaces such as tiles, parquet floors, stone terraces and wooden dog houses. It is more common in large and short-haired dogs, because larger dogs are heavier, and short hair does not provide protection between the floor and the joints. The pressure created in these places affects the reduced circulation. In order to protect the dog's body, the skin in these places thickens and this is how calluses are formed. In addition to the elbows, calluses can also appear on the hips, ankles and elsewhere.

Besides being unsightly, blisters can irritate and cause itching in the dog, but they are mostly harmless and painless. If you notice them, you should not ignore them, because small cracks can appear in that place that allow bacteria to enter the dog's body and this leads to painful inflammations and infections. Then the dog should most often be treated with antibiotics.

It is also possible to create a hygroma, which is actually an accumulation of fluid under the skin. Hygromas sometimes require puncturing, which is unpleasant and stressful for the pet. In some cases, it is necessary to remove the hygroma by surgery under anesthesia.

How to bake the creation and development of kuls?

You bought your dog several dog beds, dog beds or dog pillows, but your pet still sleeps in the hallway on the tiles or in the living room on the parquet and you can't figure out why.

It is important to understand why the dog sleeps in these places instead of on his dog bed. One of the reasons is that he overheats on the bed due to bad filling, and he looks for a place where he is cooler. Most often, these are standard siliconized fillings that are not breathable and the dog gets hot on them after a while.

Another case is that the pet sleeps on its bed, but still has blisters and you don't understand why. The reason for this may be the same siliconized filling. Wondering how that's possible when it looks so soft? Simply, when the dog lies down, its weight displaces the air, the filling thins, or flattens, and the dog actually sleeps on a hard surface.

It is important to provide your pet with a dog pillow with adequate filling that remains soft when the dog lies on it, and remains breathable to maintain a stable temperature of the pet.

The filling of dog pillows that makes this possible is Bean Bag filling, i.e. styrofoam balls. Bean Bag balls do not lose their volume when the dog lies down and are evenly distributed under the dog, so the dog never reaches the floor. View all Bean Bag dog beds here.

Air flows naturally through the Bean Bag balls all the time through the dog bed, and therefore the dog can neither get too cold nor too hot.

So provide your pet with the best dog dreams and make sure that your muzzle, wherever you are, always has its own Bean Bag dog bed.
